If you have difficulty reading the pages, you can enlarge the text by holding down the CTRL key on your keyboard and then tapping the + (plus) key. To reduce the size hold down CTRL and tap the - (minus) key. This should work in most browsers.

We used to have an MSN group, but these have been discontinued, so I setup a FACEBOOK page instead. This means people can leave messages, add photos etc. on-line. There's a link on the upper menu bar.

Recently Ian Tiffin sent me a set of Hall Photos from 1946 t0 1951 which I have included temporarily on their own page, accessed from the lower menu to the right -->.

In addition to everything else I thought it might be useful to provide links to software to help with donating content to the site. I've had problems with people sending files which are dependant on particular programs which I don't have access to, so it would help if people had access to more generalised software. For instance:-

Lots of people use Microsoft Office (Word) to prepare documents on a PC. There are many versions of Office and the newer versions have odd file formats you need converters to read on other systems. OpenOffice is a full package for word-processing etc., and it's FREE. It's also able to read and work on files prepared with Microsoft Office programs like Word. It uses a file format which is less bulky than MS Office, and it has a PDF conversion tool built in - This is useful as PDF files are very small compared to the originals. I used PDF for the Hall History and the Newsletters. Also, OpenOffice is an 'open-source' program and is available for PC and Mac, so if you use it on a Mac you can send me files that I can read on my PC without converting them.

For graphics a good program is Paint.net, which has features like Photoshop but is, again, free

Google Picassa is a good program for keeping track of photographs, and has simple editing and tweaking tools built in.

If you need to send big files and want to 'compress' them then 7-Zip is a good alternative to Winzip.
