Florida Holiday 2005 : Key West

Just what it says on the 'tin', the southern most point in the continental USA. Cuba is 90 miles away behind us, the USA mainland is over 100 miles in the other direction!
Our one nights accomodation on Key West in the Grand Guest House.... Very nice, if a little expensive.
Sample from the Butterfly display on Key West. Thay apparently have 1200 butterflies flying about most of the time in the one building.
Key West lighthouse which you can climb up to get a view over the 'island'.
View from the lighthouse towards the Gulf side of the 'island' with one of the cruise liners that stop off here in the top right of the picture.
View up Duval Street, the main street on Key West. The emporium on the left behind the flag is 'Crabbie Dicks', I kid you not!
Towards sunset up at Mallory Square. At this point we weren't in the best position as the sun was setting behind the island to the right.
Just to prove we were actually there. Me in the foreground of the sunset.
The final moments of the sunset after we moved further round.
While waiting for the sunset there are a multitude of entertainers along the front of Mallory Square, then once the sun sets even more appear, like this bloke who turned out to be from London, but very entertaining none the less.
One of the south facing beaches on Key West, looking towards the Gulf of Mexico.
Same beach as previous photo but looking West towards the Atlantic Ocean.
Since Key West is so small, and so are the streets, they prefer you to walk or rent one of these to get around in. You can also rent bicycles and scooters.
