We provided a basic collection of software with the PC to supplement the operating system. We also add various 'extras' when we do the installation of the PC to expand the capabilities of the operating system. These include FLASH & JAVA, both used extensively on the Internet.

We include and Office package from OpenOffice.org (part of ORACLE,Formerly Sun) called OpenOffice. This is compatible with Microsoft Office (It reads office files and lets you edit them and resave them). It has a Drawing component which you don't get with Microsoft Office as well as Word-Processor, Spreadsheet, Presentation (Powerpoint)and Database programs.

There is a program which allows you to read PDF files, a job normally done by Acrobat Reader. PDF (Portable Document Format) are formatted just like actual publications, so you see on screen exactly what you would if you had a printed version in front of you. A good thing about these PDF files is they are much smaller than the equivalent file produced in something like Word, from Microsoft Office. An example is the manual for the OpenOffice program which we have included with your PC.
